$65 Replace clutch components
WHAT IT DOES AND THE PROBLEMS
Your clutch is what allows you to engage and disengage the motor from the transmission. It uses a basket, a hub, friction and steel plates, and a pressure plate with springs. A properly working clutch is essential for allowing you to climb hills, running obstacles or just trying to shift. Without a proper working clutch you risk your safety with the clutch not engaging or disengaging as it should and the possibility of losing bike control.
WHAT TO LOOK FOR
Bike stalling when braking, rolling even when your clutch is pulled in. The smell of burnt fibers when changing your oil. Most people don't know what to look for for and think they have other major issues. If you open the clutch cover, look for discolored plates and grooves in the clutch basket or hub. Inspection of clutch cable is needed as well.
HOW TO FIX
Changing out your clutch frictions and steels is generally the fix for most situations, especially with beginners learning how to work the clutch effectively. There are times when the issue can be addressed by just an adjustment or a change out of the clutch cable. For more serious issues and bikes ridden hard, a clutch basket or hub replacement may be needed as well.
